Former Montana Grizzly standout Kareem Jamar scores 29 to lead Great Falls past Salem, 118-104

SALEM, Ore., April 26, 2024 — Kareem Jamar, who played four years with the University of Montana Grizzly men’s basketball program and was named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Year in his junior year, scored 29 points including 12-for-15 from the field to lead the Great Falls Electric (7-6) to a 118-104 road victory over the Salem (OR) Capitals (8-6) on Friday night at the Salem Armory Auditorium.

Power forward Lyle Hexom continued his dominance with a 27 point and 11 rebound performance in 43 minutes of action for the Electric.

Preston Whitfield accumulated 29 points and dished out a team-high six assists for Salem. Joseph Billinger, Jr., Tyreek Price, and Valentine Nyakinda combined for 43 points for the host team.

The Capitals and Electric have each won one head-to-head matchup this season with two more contests coming on May 3-4 in Great Falls, Montana. Salem’s Preston Whitfield and Paul Hafford accrued 46 in their 113-100 win over Great Falls in their first meeting on March 16. Antwaan Cushingberry registered 31 points and Lyle Hexom answered by pulling down 20 rebounds including 13 on the defensive side for Great Falls.

NEXT CONTEST: Hudson Bay High School in Vancouver, Washington will host the Vancouver (WA) Volcanoes and the Great Falls Electric on Saturday, April 27, 2024, with game time set for 8:00PM (MST). Great Falls is 0-3 against the Volcanoes with Saturday being the final time in the regular season these two clubs will meet on the court.

After the home games, fans are invited to also to meet the team and coaches at the Stadium Bar and Casino after every home game and enjoy some great food and drinks.
